TweetYourMEP (TWYMEP) is an application that allows you to use Twitter to communicate with members of the European Parliament (MEPs).

Information about the Twitter accounts of MEPs are scraped from the European Parliament's website. The application allows you to select MEPs by political party, country and constituency (though not all countries are divided into constituencies.

We imagine two use cases for TWYMEP.

1. TWYMEP as a general-purpose open government channel. Constituents can "tweet their MEP" to demand action or express concern, in the same way that they used to write to them.
2. TWYMEP as a campaign tool. A group of citizens running a campaign can install their own version of TWYMEP on any Internet-connected machine, and pre-load it with a tweet expressing the message they want to the European Parliament. People who sympathise with their cause need only a few clicks to find their MEP and send them the pre-loaded tweet (though they, of course, can also edit it).
