Discussed at Content meeting and brainstormed.

Pulled these 3 screenshot examples to discuss. All written before we standardized language (a process we are doing now when there is finally time for it). These pages use: "people with criminal records, individuals with eligible criminal convictions, applicants who are writing a letter to a judge."

Here's our brainstorm so far:

Considering our product voice, accessibility, plain language, and 5th grade reading level (potentially ESL speakers):

1. using "you" and "yours" would be ideal. It's straightforward and speaks to the user
2. We also like using people first language (people who are seeking expungement instead of applicant seeking expungement or individual, for example)

What we didn't like:

1. those
2. Applicant
3. etc.

Using you and your also is somewhat more casual rather than third person and aloof / potentially adding distance.

Claudia shared that other forms in the legal process for expungement use you and your.

Another consideration is the part where we don't know if we are directing our website/tool to clinics or to people seeking expungement. This is not a question we can answer until we are partnered, and so we will go with the assumption that we should talk directly to those seeking expungement.

We will prototype and discuss next week before deciding.
