Overview

As responsible creators of this application, we must consider what the intended use of this application is, along with how it could be used in relation to legality and illegality.

1.) We must have a privacy policy displayed where it’s easily accessible to users.

2.) We must disclose details related to the website or app, such as:

  • Website/App owner details.
  • Effective date of the privacy policy.
  • Notification process for policy changes.
  • What data is being collected.
  • Third-party access to their data, including who the third parties are and what data those third parties are collecting.
  • Their rights in regards to their data.
  • Other disclosures may be required depending on laws. 3.) We must obtain consent: Users must be able to decline, withdraw, or give (depending on law) consent.
  • US Law generally requires that users are given a clear option for withdrawing consent.

Regional Laws Regarding Handling of User Information

Depending on the state in the U.S. the handling of user data can vary. A good example of this is California, which has the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA). Another state law that we should be cognizant of is the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Countries will, of course, have their own laws that must be taken into account.

Minimum User Age

Minimum user age for our application must be 13, because there are laws that come into place for the handling of children’s information with “website[s] or online service[s] directed to children.” A child is classified as anyone under the age of 13, which sets our age minimum. A possible solution for having to get the parent or legal guardians’ agreement would be to collect their phone number. This is because the parents or guardians have the phones, and are unlikely to not check their child’s phones if the child is given one at an early age. While our site is not directed at children, it is understandable if some children would make their way to the site, as it is a gaming website. It is for this reason that it is advisable that we take precautions in the handling of children’s information.

User Agreement

User agreement can contain, but is not limited to:

  • Installation and use rights.
  • Data collection and how the users’ personal data is processed.
  • Updates to our policy and the handling of information.
  • Feedback from users and how it is handled.
  • What the license covers
  • Disclaimers or Warranties
  • Laws the users are not allowed to break with the application. For example, no pornography, extreme violence, and other adult or illegal content not mentioned.
