SKIING IS DANGEROUS!!

Introducing an endless-runner type gameplay taking place in a snowy winter wonderland setting ~ what better way to navigate the chilly hilly landscape than upon a pair of new skis?

PRIMARY QUESTS

  • choose from one of two characters
  • collect gifts and tasty treats
  • do not disturb local wildlife
  • have a good time
  • be careful on the trail

HOWEVER..

.. skiing can be very dangerous ~ perilous even.

DESCRIPTION

Interesting, humorous, and colorful vertical scrolling game with a touch of style that we, the project partners Sammy and Mei, made using the knowledge we gained of GDScript and the GODOT engine within one week as part of the winter hacksprint at the close of our second trimester at Atlas School. Our objective was to release a MVP (minimum viable product), whether website or app, within the week given to us followed by a descriptive presentation to an audience of our peers. While we were initially in unfamiliar territory with regard to the tools we chose to use, we were able to study and adapt our skills to the task and emerge successfully with an awesome first release.

CONTROLS / KEYBINDS :

  • START : SPACE / ENTER
  • CHANGE CHARACTER : TAB
  • MOVE LEFT : A / LEFT ARROW
  • MOVE RIGHT : D / RIGHT ARROW
  • RESET TO TITLE SCREEN : R
  • EXIT / QUIT : ESCAPE / CTRL+C

Game created using GDScript along with the GODOT Game Engine ~ all art assets used belong to their respective owners.

FEATURES

  • Scrolling background.
  • Two player character models to choose from: Cool Guy and Cool Girl.
  • Audible feedback when player character collides with objects: 'YAY' sound for score-up objects and Undertaker Bell sound for score-down objects.
  • Player may choose to play forever or end the game whenever.
  • Fun background music loop.
  • Very low system requirements and compatible with Linux, Mac, or Windows.

POSSIBLE FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS

  • Increased difficulty based on score: greater game speed and/or greater punishment for hitting score-down objects but higher reward for score-up objects, etc.
  • High-score recording.
  • Secret player character models unlocked by progress.
  • Hardcore/No-hit mode: GAME OVER upon collision with any score-down object.
  • Settings menu / controls help pop-up.
  • More background, music, player character model, and object model options.
