  • Existing support:
    • registerProtocolHandler
    • PWAs
    • WebExt manifest key
  • Gaps for actual protocol implementation
    • Extensions can only redirect to packaged HTML pages, cannot return byte streams
    • Extensions only allow prefixed schemes of web-ext+
    • rPH is restricted to very constrained set of schemes
