In order to track the conversions better through Google Analytics (GA), we need to add an event that is sent to GA when the "Proceed to Checkout" button is clicked, sending the user to the iDonate embed. This event should signal the beginning of transaction that GA eCommerce (or enhanced eCommerce) can track.

  1. Using Google Analytics Click Events to track conversion
    Define Abandonment:
(iDonate’s take: Do a redirect on the thankyou URL of the embed – and track that as gift completion. Therefore: add a click event for loading into “cart”, BUT without thankyou pageURL load = abandoned cart)
  1. WSU owns UI before the embed, so we would need you to own setup
  2. Tracking these clicks events and sending click event counts to Google Analytics
    (Total click events/ total transactions = conversion)(Conversion + abandonment = 100 % of visits )

After discussion with the Annual Giving team, this is something that is no longer a priority and something we can revisit in the future as we look at major updates.
