user/ pm4 folder gets clogged with thousands of small files

I have a Newbie question: After playing Tomb Raider Remastered for a few hours the user/ pm4 folder got filled with thousands of small files named " 00000000_dcb_0_0". The files amounted to about 70GB which is quite alot of data.
What are these files, whats their function? Can I safely delete them between playing sessions?

These files are reserved for debugging, you can delete these files without fear. If you don't want this to happen again, I advise you to disable the "Dump PM4" option

Don't enable random settings you don't know about
Especially if they are called "Debug" (This doesn't mean they remove bugs...)
