Implementing a different protocol for custom hardware

Hi,

First, thanks for the awesome work. This app is truley amazing.

I would like to create a custom communication protocol for text messaging with custom hardware.
The hardware already has its communication over serial usb defined, which is why there isn't much choice in the matter.

I am new to mobile/java, so having a little trouble grasping things.
I understood that I have to implement a NewProtocol class that extends Protocol.
My question is, what else has to be done?
How can I configure the app to use my protocol for text messages?

Hi, there are 3 pieces:

• Implement new protocol
• Update protocol factory to construct protocol stack properly
• Add/remove/update settings, so user can set parameters for the protocol if that's needed
