While performing assembly, receiving the error message 'died at ./wtdbg2.pl line 29'.

I have the same problem, in my case it dies at line 28...

While performing assembly in conda environment, this was resolved.

Can you describe the solution in more detail? I assembled it in conda environment and it still gives me the error

Just fixed this one for me by making sure samtools and minimap2 were properly installed and in the path.
