How to prevent apt from undoing a rpi-update? #32

From RPi-Distro/repo#365 (comment) and raspberrypi/linux#5753 (comment) seems that rpi-update currently doesn't prevent apt from undoing its change.

can a guide be posted or can such prevention be added to rpi-update
