There are many cases where <taxonomicName>s have annotations with abbreviated taxon names, e.g. genus="S.". In my opinion, it would be better to have these annotated with the full (non-abbreviated) names, which are usually found somewhere else in the treatment (e.g. in the preceding taxon name).
In many cases, variety-level taxon names have a subSpecies="var." annotation, I'm unsure if that is intentional, if not, I could easily generate a similar list for such cases where "var.", "subvar.", "sect." etc. appear in this way.
