Updates from December TSC

1. Fuzzing - Changes for fuzzing build support are in progress, with most PRs merged. Some PRs still WIP for Testbench static Libraries.

2. Outreachy - won't participate this year as overlap with GSoC.

3. Pipeline and endpoint -

• discussion needs to be formalized as a feature. Some rules are not clear. AR for @lgirdwood

4. Mixer and demux - Updates and fixes merged but some rules still unclear in certain use cases - see 3.

5. Static Analysis - @cujomalainey has been upstreaming fixes here and fixed some interesting bugs !

6. GSoC - NXP already added projects. Intel will also add projects via @mengdonglin. Also option to add projects via Zephyr and SOF, e.g integration projects.@MaureenHelm any ideas ? @lgirdwood will check with @nashif for ideas.

Agenda

1. v1.7-rc1 has been tagged, validation and signing in progress. Known issues are being logged and to be fixed in rc2 or final.
2. Plans for v1.8 are

• Multiband DRC
• Decoders from Waves & DTS
• BT support
  Release planned for end of April.

3. Linux - Significant updates planned for 5.13.

• Module changes
• aux bus integration now started, goals is to avoid large monolithic driver and use aux bus clients for each feature.
• HDMI parts will be split to a separate card.
• PCM mappings for soundwire. Consistency between platforms.

4. Codec adapter - see https://github.com/orgs/thesofproject/teams/steering-committee/discussions/19

5. Zephyr - SOF now Zephyr module. SOF code moving to use native Zephyr APIs and wrapping the Cadence APIs. NXP now working on Zephyr SoC support for i.MX8.

6. GSoC - Discussed in 6 above.

7. Topology 2.0 development near complete. Most features are done. Upstreaming should begin soon.

8. Still work to do and how to integrate with CI, some verbosity fine tuning is needed here. Also no objections to adding static analysis comments in codebase. GCC 11 has static analysis built in. Update GCC to this version in CI.

9. Intel will opensource some cAVS Audio FW example modules to show new API updates that will help add support for many more processing modules used on Intel platforms today. @mwasko will see if this can be merged in master sooner to avoid legacy issues.

10. Toolchain upgrade - XCC has issues building with different Cadence HALs. OK to add another HAL version.

• @dbaluta to check if his XCC can build Zephyr.

11. Use of assert() in code, we should be more recoverable - agreed. New asserts should not be merged and current ones should be removed.
