Compact Trackers view does not behave as expected

On my galaxy s9, with the tracker icons in the default full-size view, there are three trackers per row and four rows on the screen (with the top and bottom cut off a little).

When I turn on "Compact Trackers" under "tweaks", the icons are smaller but the horizontal spacing is way bigger so there are only two trackers per row. The vertical spacing is reasonable, so there are 5 rows on the screen.

This is still a net loss and a surprising behaviour, though: with full-size icons I get 12 on the screen, but with compact icons I only get 10 where I would expect 20.
