Issue with mongoose populate collection with lean

When trying to populate ref or array of ref and the other model also have the plugin it returns an empty array even the sub collection has documents. When the plugin is removed from the sub document is working, but when i want to use lean only on the sub collection will not work because i don't have the plugin on it.
