FancyZones Layout Editor reverts to Priority Grid after changing active template using hotkey #19773
Comments
Are you still experiencing this issue? /needinfo |
sorry, i hadn't tried doing this for a while. i haven't been using different layouts, so it became a moot issue. since i switched to 2 monitors, each with lower resolution than my one previous ultra-wide monitor, whenever i host a meeting, i just share one of my screens, and the dimensions are small enough for my coworkers; therefore, i dont need to switch to a lower resolution for meetings. that said, when i get a chance, i will test this out, and see if the behavior described above is still happening. |
sorry, i finally got a chance to see if this behavior is still there, and sure enough, in v0.83.0 it still behaves the way I described in the OP. When you first open the layout editor, everything looks fine. Whatever layouts you've assigned to your monitor(s), they appear correct. However, once you use a hotkey to change the layout on a particular monitor, the next time you open the layout editor, ALL monitors will show "Priority Grid" as their current layout. And the weird thing is, now it ACTUALLY changes the assigned layouts to all monitors to Priority Grid; it's not just a misrepresentation of the current layout. so, if you ask me, this issue got a little worse. Originally, when i created this issue, i believe it was just a visual thing where the layout editor was saying that the selected monitor was using Priority Grid, even if it wasn't, but this time, when i saw that both monitors "switched" to Priority Grid, and then closed the layout editor, sure enough, both monitors had switched to the Priority Grid layout. Mind you, if i had never opened the layout editor, the layouts wouldn't have changed on my monitors, so it's the act of opening the layout editor after using a layout hotkey to change the layout on any monitor that makes it so that the next time you open the layout editor, all monitors will have reverted back to Priority Grid automatically. Please reopen this issue, since it's actually not fixed. Thank you. (i dont open the layout editor very often, if ever, so it's not a critical issue that's constantly causing me anguish; it's just something i noticed and thought, "hey, that's not supposed to happen like that.") |
Microsoft PowerToys version
"0.61.1"
Running as admin
Area(s) with issue?
FancyZones, FancyZones Editor
Steps to reproduce
✔️ Expected Behavior
After setting the active layout using a hotkey, the layout editor should still display THAT layout as if it's the active one, instead of reverting back to "Priority Grid"
❌ Actual Behavior
layout editor shows the built-in "Priority Grid" layout as the active layout when launching the editor after selecting one via hotkey
