Course Over Ground continually changing with stationary vehicle #12077

Expected Behavior

Course over ground should be filtered/updated only when the vehicle moves outside the HDOP. Additionally, it may be useful to supplement this data with the vehicle's reported heading if available. Adding the velocity would provide more useful information so the heading could be reported as stationary or not.

Current Behavior

When the vehicle is stationary, continuous GPS updates indicates changing headings and the course over ground jumps all over the place.

Please provide an unambiguous set of steps to reproduce the current behavior

  1. Connect a vehicle with an NMEA GPS source and observe the course over ground continuously change.

System Information

When posting bug reports, include the following information

  • Operating System: [Windows 11]
  • QGC Version: [4.4.2]
  • QGC build: [stable]
  • Flight Controller: [cube orange +]
  • Autopilot (with version): [PX4 1.15.1]

Detailed Description

Vehicle has a UM980 GPS onboard and is using NMEA communications.
