Release v1.5 |
Date: April 2013
Notes : If you are upgrading your node please issue the following commands:
% esg-node stop
Perform whatever backups that will give you solace in a fubar situation. Possible directories you may wish to backup: /esg/config, /usr/local/tomcat (w/o log files), /user/local/tomcat/conf/, /etc/esgf.env
FYI: The esg-node tool will backup /user/local/tomcat/conf during the migration process. (next)
% esg-node --check u
% esg-node --migrate-tomcat-credentials-to-esgf
% esg-node --install
For IDP nodes only: Once the node is up you need to run the following query to "approve" your current accounts: (this is a ONE TIME ONLY step, for those UPGRADING)
%> source /etc/esg.env
%> psql -U dbsuper esgcet
psql (8.4.7)
Type "help" for help.
esgcet=# update esgf_security.permission set approved='t';

When this happens, re-run the installer. The second time around there are fewer vars added and thus we stay under the limit and are able to complete the full install. This is a known issue of the installation that we are looking into. To avoid getting this error, perform a COMPUTE + (other) install in two steps. First, an install NOT including COMPUTE. Then perform an install again including, this time including COMPUTE. We will work on fixing this properly in a subsequent release.

This is a tell tale sign that the SSL certificates were not set up appropriately. To solve this: re-add the ssl credentials:
%> esg-node --install-ssl-keypair
This will regenerate the keystore and rebuild the truststore. If you are upgrading (i.e. you already have a previously fully formed esg.ini file), then you are done. If you are installing the publisher for the first time, then there is still the "--publish" phase that needs to be completed in order to properly write the esg.ini file. You may do so by running the setup directly:
%> source /etc/esg.env
%> $CDAT_HOME/bin/esgsetup --thredds --publish
Setting Index Peer... to => [pcmdi.llnl.gov] (endpoint type = p2p) Installing Public Certificate of Target Peer Node...[pcmdi.llnl.gov]

This is a symptom of the same cause as the previous issue. The output directs you as to the remedy.
%> esg-node --add-my-cert-to-truststore
The difference between this solution and the previous is that this solution will NOT regenerate your keystore, you will have to know the proper password for it. The previous solution will regenerate the keystore where you SET the keystore password. If you don't know your keystore password, or wish to change it by regenerating it do the previous entry's solution - this means that you have a valid keypair in your /esg/config/tomcat directory.
There is an issue here where the failure to find the las_servers.xml file prevents thredds from being operational. The short fix is to create (touch) the missing file. This is the solution implemented in v1.6.0, currently under development.
One thing to notice here is that the script detects if you have the publisher configured to perform local LAS computation, if so then it will go ahead and install LAS on the node as well (currently the central part of the COMPUTE node type) - even if you have not selected explicitly to install a COMPUTE node type. This solution stems from issues where nodes where stood up under the DATA type but configured in the publisher for providing LAS services which lead to dead LAS links.
