Hi,

I recently updated Tweetian on my Nokia 701 (FP2) to v1.8.3 after seeing the post on the All About Symbian website. I followed the instructions an uninstalled the previous version first. The installation of 1.8.3 seemed to go ok. I launched the application and the Sign into Twitter page was displayed. When I click on the Sign In button the phone makes an internet connection but I understand it should then launch a web browser to allow me to log into twitter so that a PIN can be generated. Instead the phone remains in Tweetian and simply issues a message "Server or connection error". All other internet based applications work fine so I definitely have a working internet connection.

I receive this message on both 3g and Wifi connections. Unfortunately this error means that Tweatian no longer works on my phone. I hope you can come up with a fix soon.

Kind Regards
Si

Tweetian now launches the default browser. You could try checking the setting, and perhaps change it.

If you only have Web, you could try Opera Mobile.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked my default browser setting and it is set to Web. I have tried changing it to Opera Mini and although other web calling applications such as Email, recognises the change, Tweetian is unable to launch either Web or Opera Mini. As confirmed above all I am issues with is a server or connection error, which is not the case as the internet is working fine for all other applications?

Has there been any update on this? I still cannot use the latest version of Tweetian as it is unable to validate with my twitter account due to no web browser being launched (neither Nokia Web or Opera). I attach a screenshot when I hit the Sign In button. As confirmed this is for a Nokia 701 running latest official Nokia Belle OS.

I wonder....will this application now only work on a device running custom firmware?

No update, unfortunately. I have an 808 with standard, non-custom firmware and it's working ok. I don't have a 701 to test on and Nokia have removed all Symbian phones from their Remote Device Access.

Perhaps @dicksonleong might have an idea.

Did you try Opera Mobile (rather than Opera Mini)?

I wonder if Tweetian version 1.8.1 will work. This is before the default browser was changed. It's a Nokia Store version, but not the latest in the store. You may be able to find the installation file somewhere on the web.

This might be related to change of SSL cert used by Twitter API. I can't reproduce it on my phone and even tested in RDA (long before). So basically I can't fix it because I can't reproduce it.

If the new SSL cert is really causing the problem, I don't think I can fix this, because the certs can only updated through phone software update.

Hi,
Thanks for the update although it is a shame you are unable to help. The default web browser is Opera Mobile or Web. Opera Mini does not appear as an option. Either way it is as if Tweetian cannot open the browser to access the twitter website. This was working fine until I upgraded to 1.8.3 although even if I try to install the Ovi Store version it has the same problem.

Do you know if Tweetian stores any files or data elements somewhere that is not removed when I uninstall the application? Perhaps it is something like this that is stopping Tweetian working. I had a similar issue with GoogleHD but found a .dat file that was maintained even if I uninstalled / reinstalled. When I removed this and reinstalled the application, it started working perfectly.

Hello.

I have the same problem with Tweetian on my Nokia N8. It began a bit more than a week ago; it has been working fine until now.

First, Tweetian stopped retrieving tweets, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it, thinking that it would solve the problem. Now it does the same as user @smjohns shows in the screen capture, so it is useless.

I am using v 1.08(3).

Any news about this problem, or are we on our own?

Unfortunately I have jumped ship from Nokia as the 701 was becoming too painful to use. Have the Sony z3 compact, which is a wonderful replacement for the 701. Takes a little setting up but once you get there it is a joy to use and all the apps I loved on my Nokia are available. Glad to see useful apps like Situations and full version of Here maps ported to Android and was so glad to get a working version of Swype again and of course Skype with full video call capability.

I ended up purchasing Gravity. I like Tweetian interface a lot more, but Gravity at least works.

A pity that we haven't had any recent responses from the Tweetian developer.
