Pagination "dots" cause Lighthouse test to show "Tap targets are not sized appropriately"

When running a Google Lighthouse test I get the message "Tap targets are not sized appropriately" for all pagination dots.
I think this is because they are rendered as buttons with type "tab". I know this probably has accessibility reasons.

Does anybody have an idea how to solve this? Would it be ok to have the dots not be buttons, because the arrows are still there for keyboard navigation?

I solved it for now by setting pointer-events: nonevia CSS, since they are only for representation and can't be used in a good way as navigation anyway.
