MicroPad relies on browser functionality to store and auto-save notebooks that you edit. If your storage is running low, or your browser is restrictive-- this functionality can be limited. When MicroPad launches, it tries to get your computer to promise not to delete any of its data. If this fails, a message is displayed noting that long-term storage is unavailable (and links to this page).
If you use MicroSync for your notebooks, you can avoid worrying because MicroSync keeps a copy of your notebook backed up for you.
I did not see any message about long-term storage
You do not need to worry, because MicroPad has permission to keep your notebooks in storage for the long-term. You can still follow the steps below to export your notebooks if you would like a back-up.
I see the long-term storage message
The easiest way to solve this problem is to download MicroPad and install it on your computer locally from https://getmicropad.com/#download. However, if you wish to continue to use MicroPad from your browser, you can save notebooks like any other file to your hard drive.
Press Ctrl+S (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+S (macOS) to save a notebook to your computer. A notebook can be opened from your computer with Ctrl+O or Cmd+O. Additionally, you can save all notebooks currently open in MicroPad to your computer with Ctrl+Shift+s or Cmd+Shift+S.
WIthout a keyboard, you can access this functionality by clicking on the settings cog next to the name of your notebook in the sidebar, and selecting "Export Notebook". Notebooks can be opened from the notebooks dropdown.
