htaccess/htpasswd passwort protection

i would like to use an additional htacces password protection. This works with regular browsers, but not using the app.
I tried the url https://username:[email protected]/

Is it possible to enable/implement this authentification method?

We have no access the app code this is a program written by a community member.

I only maintain the plugin code within this GitHub project.
