Before we consider KDE 6 stable-ready, there are a few tasks and bugs to address. This issue serves as a memo for those items.
This list is not exhaustive and may be expanded in the future.
Features to Implement
Functionalities
systemsettings, KCMs: Eliminate or hide KNewStuff entries as they are simply too susceptible to broken or even malicious addons
Additional KCMs to ease system management
systemd units, timers, etc. (Maybe port systemd-kcm? But it's too old)
User and system configurations.
User: bashrc, xprofiles, etc.
System: GRUB and other boot-up configurations (Something like msconfig)
Emulation solutions (AArch64, LoongArch, and RISC-V), allowing users to select between say LATX and Box64 on LoongArch; Box64 or FEX on AArch64
Maybe even more detailed settings for specific emulation features
System features (X-AOSC-Features or *-base), like "Adding/Removing Features" in Windows
Dolphin: Pop-up file operation dialogues to replace the notification area window (making it the default rather than a fallback when neither taskbar nor notification area progress indicators were enabled)
Kickoff/Application Menus: Allow using Pinyin to match Chinese Keywords= entries
Appearance
Konsole: A higher-contrast default colour scheme (Campbell-based, probably)
Provide krdpserver or krdp, upgrade xdg-desktop-portal to > 1.17.0
There's a built-in Remote Desktop server in KDE 6, which is not included in the AOSC KDE 6 packages now. On Wayland, it depends on the InputCapture interface of XDG Desktop Portal > 1.17.0, but the AOSC one is still in version 1.16.0.
Rebuild packages related to gtk-4
In the KDE 6 topic, appstream was updated to version 1.0.3 which provides libappstream.so.5, but packages using GTK 4 (or GTK 4 itself) still depends on libappstream.so.4. A rebuild is need to make them work again.
